Initially, it reduces contamination by bacteria in the drinking water by creating an environment unsuitable for its growth. After ingestion, it lowers the pH of the crop in birds / stomach in pigs, creating a second physiological barrier minimizing the intestinal colonization of undesirable bacteria.
